December 2009
During the 2009 financial crisis, private higher education faced a lurking sentiment in Congress that oversight of higher education should no longer be left to educators. I proposed and wrote this “occasional paper” to inform university donors and influencers of the possible shift, and as a call for them to defend higher education leaders in their independent oversight of private colleges and universities.
The target audiences were the university board of trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, and approximately 400 sister institutions in Florida and across the United States.
